The large peak that we see to the extreme left is due to internal conversion, which happens mostly because the excited 137Ba nuclei has a comparatively long half-life of 2.55 minutes. Absorption Coefficient of Lead and Tin For calculating the absorption coefficient, we used layers of lead and tin between different sources (cpm/(γ/sec)) and the gamma emission yield of Cs-137 (0.85). The intake amount (Bq) is calculated by dividing the above value by the whole-body retention rate at the elapsed days from assumed intake date to measurement date. The effective dose is then calculated by multiplying the above value by the effective dose coefficient of Cs-137.
